After installing KB5003635 or later updates, apps accessing event logs on remote devices might be unable to connect. This issue might occur if the local or remote has not yet installed updates released June 8, 2021 or later. Affected apps are using certain legacy Event Logging APIs. You might receive an error when attempting to connect, for example:
  • error 5: access is denied
  • error 1764: The requested operation is not supported.
  • System.InvalidOperationException,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.GetEventLogCommand
  • Windows has not provided an error code.
Note Event Viewer and other apps using current non-legacy APIs to access event logs should not be affected.
Affected platforms:
  • Client: Windows 10, version 21H1; Windows 10, version 20H2; Windows 10, version 2004; Windows 10, version 1909; Windows 10, version 1809; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2016; Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB; Windows 8.1; Windows 7 SP1

Resolution: This is expected due to security hardening changes relating to Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) for CVE-2021-31958. This issue is resolved if the local and remote devices both have KB5003635 installed.

After installing KB5003169 and restarting your device, you might be unable to sign into some Microsoft 365 desktop client apps such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Outlook. You might also receive an 80080300 error or 'We ran into a problem. Reconnecting…' when attempting to authenticate or sign into Teams. Note Mobile, web and non-Windows versions are not impacted.
Workaround: To mitigate this issue on most devices, you can restart your device a second time. Most devices will sign into affected apps as expected for all subsequent restarts after the first restart that completes installation of the update. If restarting does not mitigate the issue on your device, you can use the web versions of the apps:

After installing KB5000808, you might receive an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH error with a blue screen when attempting to print to certain printers in some apps. This issue affects a subset of Type 3 printer drivers and does not affect printer drivers that are Type 4. If you are unsure which type your printer driver is, use the following steps:
  1. Press the Windows key+r or select Start and type run and select it.
  2. Type printmanagement.msc and press enter or select the OK button.
  3. If Print Management opens, continue to step 4. If you receive the error, Windows can not find 'printmanagement.msc'. then select Start and type manage optional features and select it. Select Add a Feature and type print, select the check box next to Print Management Console and select install. You will now need to start at step 1 again.
  4. Expand Print Servers, expand your computer's name, and select Printers.
  5. You can now see the Driver Type for each of your installed printer drivers.
Workaround: To mitigate the issue, follow the instructions in this video. The Command Prompt commands from the video are as follows (you will need to replace KX driver for Universal printing with the name of your printer, as explained in the video):
  • rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /Xg /n “KX driver for Universal printing”
  • rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /Xs /n 'KX driver for Universal printing' attributes +direct
Affected platforms:
  • Client: Windows 10, version 20H2; Windows 10, version 2004; Windows 10, version 1909; Windows 10, version 1809; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10, version 1803
  • Server: Windows Server, version 20H2; Windows Server, version 2004; Windows Server, version 1909; Windows Server, version 1809; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server, version 1803
Resolution: This issue was resolved in the out-of-band update KB5001566. It is a cumulative update, so you do not need to apply any previous update before installing it. You will need to Check for updates to install KB5001566 and might need to also select Download and Install. For instructions on how to Check for updates, please see Update Windows 10. You might receive stop error 0x7E in nwifi.sys with a blue screen when you attempt to use a Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3) connection. You are more likely to encounter this issue when reconnecting to a Wi-Fi network after disconnecting, or when waking from sleep or hibernation. Note Most Wi-Fi networks are currently using WPA2 and are not affected.
Workaround: To mitigate this issue, you can do one of the following:
  • Update your device to Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows 10, version 20H2.
  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network using WPA2. To do this you may need to reconfigure your access point or router settings.
  • Connect using a wired ethernet connection.
Affected platforms:
  • Client: Windows 10, version 1909
Resolution: This issue was resolved in the out-of-band update KB5001028. If you have automatic updates enabled, you will receive this update automatically and do not need to take any further action. It is a cumulative update, so you do not need to apply any previous update before installing it. The update is available on all release channels including Windows Update, Microsoft Update Catalog and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Microsoft and Discord have found incompatibility issues with some games using Direct3D 12 when the in-game overlay feature of Discord is enabled. When attempting to open affected games you might receive an error, or the game might close silently.
Affected platforms:

Workaround: To mitigate this issue, you can turn off the in-game overlay in settings within the Discord app.
Resolution: This issue is now resolved in an update to the Discord app. To verify you're on the latest version, right click on the Discord icon in the notification area and select 'Check for updates..'. If there are updates to install, it should install automatically but you might need to select the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the app to install the updated version. There is no update for Windows needed to resolve this issue.

Prior to harvesting, check the shellfish rule change free hotline 866-880-5431 or visit this page for season closures and restrictions.

Some access sites not managed by the department may remain closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Please check before you leave to ensure your destination is open, and have a back up plan in case it is too crowded.
